Taldykorgan - the centre of Almaty area of Kazakhstan, is located in centre Semirechie on the river Karatal in foothills Dzungarian AlaTau.
The city has arisen in 2nd half XIX century, as village Gavrilovka (renamed in 1920 in village Taldy-Kurgan). In Taldykorgan there are such factories, as storage: sewing, shoe, furniture, etc.; industrial complex of building materials. Zhetysusky state university, polytechnical college, economic-technological college, medical school, and also a hippodrome, historic-museum of local lore.
