Taraz – is one of the most ancient cities of Kazakhstan, mentioned in ancient Chinese sources, as one of the important trading cities of the Great Silk Way. In the Middle Ages Taraz was the strengthened, populous city with shady gardens and noisy markets where it was possible to hear Persian, Turkic, Chinese and also Slavic speeches. Taraz city continued to remain the important centre in the Mongolian empire in the end of XIII century and then in Timurs power. It was known and later, up to XVI century when the earths of Semirechie were a part of the Kazakh khanate. In 1856 the city has received the new name of Aulie-Ata "Sacred aged man" and in 1936 in January has been renamed into Mirzojan. In May 1938 to a city was given the name Dzhambul, in honor of national akin Dzhambul Dzhabaev. 50 – 70 – years 20th centuries are the important stage of a development of the city of Dzhambul. During this period variety of new buildings and industrial targets has been constructed, building, transport, public health services, a science and culture had development. On 8 th January 1997 by the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan Republic of Dzhambul has been renamed into Taraz city. Till now such pearls of Muslim architecture, as the mausoleums of Ajsha-Bibi and Babadzhi-hatun, Karahan and Davudbek have remained.
