East Kazakhstan Region occupies the easternmost part of Kazakhstan. It was founded at the border with Russia and China in 1932. The administrative center of the region is Oskemen city.
This region is famous among tourists with its beautiful, vivid places such as Mausoleum Kozy-Korpish and Bayan-Sulu, cosmic tract Ak-Buar, ancient town Kyin-Kerish which means “Majestic Beauty”, but it is also called “Town of Ghosts”. Clay and sand layers with remains of ancient rhinoceroses, tortoises, salamanders and natural growths are the main treasure of Kyin-Kerish.
